Sneak-peak to my current project.

The project I'd like to delve into, called Metamorphosis, deals with themes of joy of physicality, female sexuality and its experience. Metamorphosis is a term that refers to a transformation, or transfiguration.

In my reflections, I return to pagan religions, which often, on the contrary, attributed divinity in the form of creative power to the feminine. Priestesses, healers, witches. They were supposed to be able to heal, to converse with the gods, to be intimately connected with nature and thus ensure abundance and harvest.

A woman's body intertwined with the body of the tree. A figure clothed in bark and leaves. I also find a parallel and inspiration in the story of Daphne, who, annoyed by an insistent suitor, turns her body into a laurel bush. In this motif of escape accompanied by fear, I see above all the courage, strength and defiance associated with the emergence of a new being.

In my project I would like to work with casts of the female body, as well as with casts of a tree. Blending these two forms with each other and then complementing them with my own modelling in clay or plaster. I would work with positive and negative casting, plaster and silicone moulds. The result of my work would be objects made from concrete, fiberglass maybe plaster too.
